Magic Johnson Community Empowerment Center

To provides assistance and training of computer technology to the residents in our community: The center empowers the community through teaching job training skills, computer classes, and educational programs for children. To provide links to local, state and federal Employment offices. This access to technology is giving opportunities to enhance the quality of life for all in the Community.

Program Objectives

The major issues facing urban residents are quality of education, affordable access (including transportation) to information, safe and secure learning environments, and access to business and high-tech job opportunities. It is the objective of the Magic Johnson Foundation with Landex management Corporation to create a safe haven within the Empowerment Centers that is conducive to learning and enriched with qualitative and quantitative educational and informational programs tailored to address the specific issues facing urban communities that will contribute to the educational and business development needs of residents that will contribute to the overall economic sustainability and continued growth of the communities in which they reside. Our goals are:

Educate Children
Strengthen Families
Build Communities
Provide access to state of the art technology
Provide access to educational content that improves the academic performance of students
Introduce technology to urban youth pre k through 12
To impact large urban demographics
To provide youth with positive after school program access during critical hours by removing them from at risk behaviors
To structure programs that will allow participants to obtain industry standard certifications and jobs in the fields Information Technology
To provide a safe haven for youth that will build self esteem
To obtain a minimum 85% success graduate rate for participants of tailored course curriculums
To transition residents to employment within Magic Johnson and Corporate partner companies.
To enlist the participation of corporations and businesses within the communities to partner with recipients to assure program sustainability
To identify Taylor Michaels Scholarship candidates
To obtain 100% full time utilization of centers
To conduct seminars and workshops that will educate participants about health, credit, finance, home ownership, to provide resources for college entrance and financial assistance
